Death makes its mark on KOKO…
Following their support slot on the Enter Shikari arena tour in November last year, Astroid Boys headed out onto their headline tour with multiple sold-out shows and their penultimate date at Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms certainly didn’t disappoint.
I made my way to North London having not been to The Dome before, however, as soon as I left Tufnell Park Station knew I was in the right place, with artwork and band names you couldn’t read nor pronounce on t-shirts as well as proudly displayed inverted crucifixes.
This is one I was looking forward to— three bands who could legitimately headline their own shows and have done previously.
What’s better than an all-girl Japanese power metal band? Absolutely nothing, and that’s why Lovebites were not to be missed when they performed at the Underworld in Camden, London this week.
The temperature had taken a massive drop throughout the day, by night it was cold, so cold and the pale blue lights streaking up the Islington Assembly Hall walls made it somehow feel colder — quite fitting considering the main act are Norwegian. Once inside though, it felt almost tropical in comparison.
As I arrived at the Electric Ballroom, the queue was snaking along Camden High Street but within a short time it was moving along swiftly much to the delight of fans wearing only t-shirts sporting their favourite Cradle of Filth artwork.
It was Halloween 2015 that One Direction played their last ever full-length, official show. Teenage girls all over the world shed enough tears to fill the seven seas, and the five men went their separate ways to pursue solo careers.
Some might dare to describe The Horrors as a bit old hat these days.
The band on everybody’s lips right now is none other than Pale Waves, a delightfully talented four-piece from Manchester.
