With artists having to put a pause on their touring schedules, they are now putting music out to hold their fans over. One such artist to release new material is power duo Twenty One Pilots.
The new track ‘Level of Concern’ starts with a catchy ’80s beat, which is nice as singer Tyler Joseph’s vocals aren’t competing to be heard against the song. Between the sound and lyrics, the track is so easy flowing. The guitar and drums do a great job of complimenting each other. When first listening to the lyrics it could be easy to find them cringe-worthy at first because lines such as “Wonderin’ would you be my little quarantine?” but ultimately the rest of the track is endearing. The lyrics are about wanting someone by your side during the not so easy times. Towards the end of the song, Joseph performs spoken word and he has such a distinct sounding voice it helped add something simple yet special to the track.
Though ‘Level of Concern’ is a song to simply be enjoyed by fans, you can’t help but appreciate how effortless the track sounds. It will be interesting to see in the future if the band goes back to their alternative rock sound or keep doing more pop songs.
