Introducing: Days To Come

We get to know Brandon Rix of the hard rock band, Days To Come.

So, who are you?

My name is Brandon Rix and I’m the guitarist for the hard rock band Days To Come. Justin Goodson is our vocalist and Jalen Hall is our drummer.

Where are you from?

I’m from the good life city of Albany, Georgia. Justin is originally from California and Jalen is originally from Colorado.

How long have you been together?

We’ve been together since early 2014. Justin and I have actually been playing and writing together since 2013. We’ve gone through a few lineup changes over the years but we’ve got a good team and feel confident with what we’re currently doing.

How long have you been playing music?

I’ve been playing music for about 15 years. Before Days To Come, I was essentially a guitar enthusiast. I was interested in playing and practised for so long. There were times I was actually motivated to practice for a full eight hours a day when I got back from school. However, before being in a band, I was a simple physics major on a path to scholarly domination.

Why should people listen to your band?

We’re not trying to fit in a mold. Not saying we don’t fit in certain places, but it’s not intentional. We play hard rock with musical aspects pulled from anywhere. We have a non-traditional singer for the genre and we’re like totally friendly. We look spooky, but we give good hugs.

What is your ideal touring line-up?

Anything that leads to me going to bed as soon as possible.

What does music mean to you?

It means I can be expressive. Today’s times is saying that you have to be a certain way in order to be accepted. Music brings out such creativity that as long as you enjoy it, you’re doing it right.

What was the first record you bought when you were younger?

The first album I can remember is Guns N Roses’ Greatest Hits. It did inspire a lot of my musicality in the beginning, which can be shown through my earlier gear.

What artists first inspired you to start playing music?

Slash and Steve Vai. I love getting lost on YouTube watching live concerts and music videos. Watching these artists push the boundaries, create, and perform always inspires me to be a better musician.

What’s the most aesthetically pleasing album cover that you have in your collection?

The Shape Of Colour by Intervals. The broken abstract about it really catches me.

What kind of movie genre do you think your music would best be the soundtrack for?

A silent film.

Recommend us a record, a book, and a movie…

Dark Side Of The Moon – Pink Floyd. The Green Mile. Whiplash.
