We caught up with Edgard, a singer-songwriter from Brazil.
So, who are you?
I am Edgard.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and I’ve been based in Los Angeles since 2015.
How long have you been playing music?
I’ve been making music since I was 7.
Why should people listen to your music?
I believe my music is really sincere, filled with raw emotions and depth.
What is your ideal touring line-up?
To tour with Tedeschi Trucks Band and Marcus King would be both incredibly inspiring and rewarding.
What does music mean to you?
Music is my greatest passion. It’s a channel for your own self to express its uniqueness beyond comprehension. It is what I am deep inside.
What was the first record you bought when you were younger?
Funny enough and kind of out there but it was a compilation, Iron Maiden’s Best of the Beast.
What artists first inspired you to start playing music?
There were several musicians that inspired me to make music, but Definitely Jimi Hendrix was the one the pushed me to pursue a musical career.
What’s the most aesthetically pleasing album cover that you have in your collection?
Tricky question… but I believe I’d say it is Californication, by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
What kind of movie genre do you think your music would best be the soundtrack for?
Some Tarantino-esque intense thriller or some alternative trippy adventure-like flick.
Recommend us a record, a book, and a movie…
As a record, The Empyrean by John Frusciante. Regarding a book, I’d say Free Play – Improvisation in Art and Life by Stephan Rachmaninovich. A movie, Interstellar by Christopher Nolan.
