Landmvrks are all set to release the follow-up to 2016’s Hollow, a sophomore effort named Fantasy. We had a quick chat with the band to see what went in to the record and how the band came to be.

So, please explain to our readers, “who are Landmvrks?”

We are a metalcore band from France, and we play aggressive and melodic music. We are due to release our second album named Fantasy through Arising Empire on November 2nd.

Where are you guys from?

We are from Marseille, the very south of France!

How long have you been together? How did you meet?

We met each other six years ago. In the beginning, Flo (vocals) was the guitarist and started playing some songs with Niko (drums). After several line-up changes alongside the fact that we were not satisfied with some singers that we had trialled, we decided that Flo would be the singer, so we contacted Nico (guitarist) and asked him to join the band. This is when Landmvrks really began.

How long have you been playing music?

We all had different bands before we started Landmvrks, we’ve all been playing music since we were young boys.

Why should people listen to Landmvrks?

You should listen to Landmvrks because we cover a lot of ground, and have a lot of different influences. We don’t stick to basic metalcore; we love to mix hardcore riffs and hip hop flows with catchy choruses and intimate moments, all carried along by a modern production. That’s what we love and we think that everyone can find something that touches them in our music.

What is your ideal touring line-up?

We’d love to tour with bands like Stick To Your Guns or Beartooth. These are bands we love because of their punk/hardcore and raw influences!

What does music mean to you personally?

Music has become the most important thing in our lives, it is what makes us grow and makes us feel alive. Since we’ve been doing this, with the level of dedication that it takes, we should have known early on that it would become our way of life.

What was the first record you bought when you were younger?

[Flo] The first metal record I ever bought was Linkin Park’s Meteora and an AC/DC live CD. It started well.

What artists first inspired you to start playing music?

[Flo] I’ve been influenced a lot by Metallica, the riffs and the melodies, I remember going to school and listening to Ride The Lightning for the very first time and then suddenly ‘Fade To Black’ begins with its guitar arpeggios etc… I was blown away. I learned the guitar to Metallica.

What’s the most aesthetically pleasing album cover that you have in your collection?

I’m pretty proud of the album cover for our next album Fantasy to be honest! It was made by a very talented artist and friend named Jade!

What kind of movie genre do you think your music would best be the soundtrack for?

Drama I guess because our music is a simple reflection of our darkest and most complex life experiences.
