Review: Phoenix at The Greek Theatre, Berkeley

On September 8 Phoenix brought their Ti Amo Tour to The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California.

Starting off the show was Sir Sly. They had an awesome stage presence to them, had tons of energy and looked like they loved what they do which is always great to see. Their music was so vibrant. Between those two aspects, their performance kept the attention of the crowd the whole time.

The last opener was Cut Copy. The audience was loving every minute of their crazy set.  The band had a huge amount of enthusiasm, one of the members of the band was on such a high he even accidentally made one of the speakers fall off stage when he was trying to lay down across the stage.

After a short wait, it was now time for Phoenix. The lights went out and as soon as fans could see the band come on stage they started screaming. They started their set with ‘J – Boy’ and the audience instantly began dancing and singing along. Phoenix has such a cool vibe to them, they made their performance look effortless and the production made their show a little extra dynamic. One of the highlights of the show was when lead singer Thomas Mars went down to the barricade to get closer to the crowd. As soon as he got down everyone pushed to the front in hopes of trying to get as close as possible. There was no denying how passionate their fans are.

All together it was a wonderful night of music. It’s hard to find a show where the energy is so intense, you could feel it flowing throughout the venue. Phoenix’s performance at The Greek Theatre will no doubt be remembered for a long time.
